Frank Hughes has been in the cable television industry for 38 years. He started as a Regional Manager with Home Box Office in its Kansas City regional office in 1980. He oversaw the affiliate marketing and distribution for HBO in 5 Midwestern states and eventually became Regional Director with responsibilities for MSO Key Accounts throughout the Midwest.
In 1990, Frank left the programming side of the industry to join ranks with the operations side. He was General Manager for a 15,000-subscriber cable system in suburban St. Louis, United Video Cablevision. With an impending system sale, Frank left and joined the National Cable Television Cooperative in August 1991.
In his present position with the NCTC, Frank is Senior Vice President – Member Services and his responsibilities include overall member communications and working with members on programming related initiatives. The NCTC currently has more than 750 member companies serving in excess of 10 million subscribers in all 50 states. In 2001, Frank was inducted as a Pathfinder of the Mid-America Cable Association for outstanding leadership and contributions to the cable television industry. In 2014, Frank was inducted in the Cable TV Pioneers.
Frank resides in Olathe, Kansas (a suburb of Kansas City) with his wife, Tess. He has 3 children and 7 grandchildren. Hobbies include golf, bass fishing and racquetball.
